As I'm sure you've heard, Britain has voted to leave the EU.

The Leave campaign beat remain voters with a majority of 52%, and Nigel Farage is calling for June 23 to become a national holiday, known as 'Independence Day'.

Despite Britain voting to leave, Google Trends reported that at around midnight, two hours after referendum polls closed, there was an increase of 250 percent in people searching 'what happens if we leave the EU?' Which begs the question, did people know what they were voting for?

Following that, Google Trends showed that there was a 100 percent increase in searches for getting Irish passports, and that 'why did Britain leave the EU?' and 'what is the EU?', were two of the most popular searches since the results of the referendum.

Shortly after the results of the EU Referendum were announced, Prime Minister David Cameron announced his resignation.

Only time will tell what the implications of this decision actually are for the UK.
