Spanish Police Chase Suspected Drug Dealers Whilst They Dump Cannabis Into The Sea

The Spanish civil guard chased the occupants of a speedboat whilst they attempted to throw cannabis into the water

Spanish police officers have been filmed chasing a number of drug dealers in a speedboat whilst they hurled around 2.5 tonnes of cannabis overboard. You can see the whole thing unfold in the video below.

This high-speed incident happened off the Ayamonte coast of Spain, near to the city of Huelva on Sunday 5 December.

The Spanish civil guard said that they’d managed to seize around 2.5 tonnes of cannabis following the incident.

As well as that, they managed to cut off the path of the boat being used by the smugglers and arrest the six people that were on board.

In the video, you’ll be able to see a Spanish police officer giving chase to the boat whilst gesturing at the occupants to cut out the engines and stop.

The sea looks pretty damn rough, so the police vessel – as well as the speedboat – was being tossed about up and down on the water.

For a while, the drug smugglers completely ignored the officer’s instructions and continued to wind around and around in circles ‘carrying out constant evasive manoeuvres’ whilst they attempted to get rid of the drugs on board.

The police also said that they were attempting to dump fuel from the boat as well, presumably in the hope that it might move a bit faster.

However, after a while they seemed to realise that it was useless, following the instructions of the officer and turning off the boat engines, which presented the opportunity for the police to arrest them.

It’s not currently known how many police officers were involved in the high-octane bust.

The Spanish Civil Guard later released a statement that told how they’d observed a boat with two people inside it approaching a speedboat that had another four people on board.

Once they’d realised that a suspected drugs operation was in progress, they approached the suspects directly, but the two people on board the first boat switched to the second – and faster – boat before attempting to make an escape.

They also said that the Portuguese authorities were involved in the operation alongside their Spanish counterparts.

The investigation continues, and it is not yet known whether the six men arrested have been charged.

Furthermore, the street value of the drugs that were seized has not been disclosed.

It is well known that drug dealers use Spain as an entry point from South America, as well as places further afield.
