Gypsy Rose Blanchard breaks silence on TikTok after spending seven years in prison over murder of her own mother

The now 32-year-old took to social media to give people a post-prison update

Gypsy Rose Blanchard has broken her silence on TikTok following her release from prison after serving seven years behind bars in relation to the murder of her mother.

The 32-year-old was freed on parole last week after being slapped with a ten year sentence for her part in the killing of Clauddine 'Dee Dee' Blanchard in June 2015.

Take a look at her TikTok here:

It is widely believed that throughout her turbulent childhood, Gypsy was a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy and faced years of abuse at the hands of her own mum.

This rare behavioural disorder and form of child abuse, also known as fabricated or induced illness, is when a parent or any other form of carer makes up an illness for the person they're looking after, often for sympathy or financial gain.

Dee Dee falsely told people that her daughter was wheelchair bound and had multiple serious health conditions including epilepsy, vision impairments and muscular dystrophy.

Gypsy was forced to use a feeding tube, an oxygen tank and was subjected to a number of unnecessary medical treatments.

Ultimately, Gypsy and her online boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn plotted to kill Dee Dee and stabbed her to death.

She cut a deal for a 10-year sentence and plead guilty to second-degree murder in 2016, while her accomplice and lover was convicted of first-degree murder and is serving a life sentence.

Gypsy is now enjoying her first taste of freedom since her release from a Missouri jail on 28 December and has taken to TikTok to update people on how she is readjusting to life on the outside.

She said: "Hey everyone, this is Gypsy. I'm finally free!

"I just want to send a quick video to thank everyone for the massive amount of support that I’ve been getting on social media. Everyone’s been really, really nice and supportive and I really appreciate that.

“It’s nice to be home, I’m back home in Louisiana, enjoying a beautiful day outside."

The former inmate said she had a 'lot of great things happening really soon', such as the release of her documentary series on Lifetime titled The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard.

Gypsy shared her first TikTok video on 31 December.

Gypsy has also released an e-book, Released: Conversations on the Eve of Freedom, which she is 'super proud of'.

She explained: "It's not a rehashing of everything that happened, it's more of my reflection of everything that I have learned and experienced in the last eight and a half years."

Gypsy also shared another video explaining how she would be celebrating New Year's Eve.

She told her 4.8 million followers she was watching the clock strike midnight with her with her husband, Chris Anderson, and her father and stepmother.

Gypsy smiled: "We're looking to bring in the New Year together and it's going to be really nice to have some family time together after so long."
