Joe 'The Body Coach' Wicks recently stepped in as the 'nation's PE teacher', offering free fitness sessions for those stuck at home as part of self-isolation or social distancing measures.

The daily PE lessons are taking place Monday-Friday at 9am via Wicks' YouTube channel, The Body CoachTV, and last half an hour.

When he announced the news on Twitter, Wicks said the sessions were aimed for 'little kids right up to secondary school'.

"It's a workout designed specifically for kids because when the schools are closed there is no PE," he said.

"Don't worry, I've got you. I'm going to take this over.

"I'm going to get your kids moving, feeling energised, positive, optimistic."

But the first live session this morning (which was getting nearly 800,000 streams, by the way) proved it wasn't just youngsters interested in staying healthy and active with Wicks, as many grown-ups tuned in too - and soon realised they aren't quite as fit as they'd imagined.

One person tweeted: "Just done the Joe Wicks PE class! Safe to say I am seriously unfit I feel f***ed haha."

Another said: "Did the Joe Wicks workout with my little sister and it's safe to say I've never felt more unfit in my life #PEwithJoe."

But that's not to say they didn't enjoy it - or that they weren't motivated to keep going, with many taking it as the impetus to work on their fitness.

Someone else tweeted: "Just did the #joewicks 30 min workout. Kids laughing at how unfit I am. Going to do it everyday and when football starts again join a team. Feel knackered but happier."

Someone else said: "Thanks Joe Wicks for confirming how unfit I am. Here's to tomorrow."

Even if the session did open up some hard truths for some adults, it was clearly a huge hit with people at home.

According to The Independent more than 790,000 households tuned into the first live session this morning, while the video has more than 370,000 views at the time of writing.

Same time tomorrow, folks?

You can join Joe Wicks every day between Monday and Friday at 9am, at The Body CoachTV on YouTube.
