Large Crowds Gather At 'Organised' Boxing Match In Birmingham Park

Footage shows a big audience gathered at an 'organised' boxing match in a Birmingham park, despite Covid-19 rules limiting the number of people in a gathering to six.

The clip, which was taken from Snapchat, shows two young men wearing boxing gloves and sparring as people watch on and film the pair going at it.

A large crowd formed in Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham, at what has been described as an 'organised party' in Britain's current spate of warm weather.

It's believed that hundreds broke the coronavirus social distancing guidelines, which from Monday (29 March) permitted outdoor gatherings (including those in private gardens) of either six people or two households.

Restrictions on travel remained in place, meaning people were asked only to go places if it was necessary. Despite this, it's thought that some of the revellers in Birmingham came from London.

According to The Sun, the event was called '21 Degrees' and a flyer for the gathering advertised 'cocktails, music, rounders, football and water fights'.

Taking to social media, one person wrote: "Seeing snaps of Cannon Hill Park makes me think we ain't ever making it out of lockdown."

Another added: "Why am I seeing that people are trekking across cities to go Cannon Hill Park? How embarrassing is that?"

A third person was understanding of the situation but condemned those in attendance for their unwillingness to take their litter with them.

They wrote: "Cannon Hill Park was a mess this morning. I understand people might want to have a party even though it's not really safe yet but they need to clean up after themselves."

Places all over the UK were left scattered with rubbish after Tuesday and Wednesday's bout of nice weather.

Massive clean-up operations began to take place to get rid of the piling litter.

Pictures were taken showing the mess left behind in Hyde Park, Leeds; Primrose Hill, London; Sefton Park, Liverpool; Endcliffe Park, Sheffield; and Platt Fields Park in Manchester.
