A flat in London is on the market for £200,000 ($250,000), though there might be a bit of a problem when it comes to preparing dinner.

The studio in Notting Hill is described a 'wonderful opportunity' by the estate agent, but even by the capital's standards, space is definitely at a premium.

Measuring just 79-square-feet, the apartment consists of a bed, shower, sink and hob. But with them all lined up along one wall, it's a little bit cramped to say the least.

The advert on Zoopla does warn any potential buyer that the 'period conversion' would require 'complete modernising throughout'.

However, it also states it is close to local amenities and 'great transport links'.

The ad reads: "A wonderful opportunity to create a London bolt hole in this prime central location in W11.

"This studio room requires modernisation throughout and could become a wonderful base for someone.

"Colville Road is in the heart of Notting Hill with all the local amenities restaurants, bars and shops of Westbourne Grove, Portobello and Notting Hill Gate.

"Notting Hill Gate tube and Ladbroke Grove tube both give quick and easy access into the City and West End.

"Prospective purchasers or tenants are advised to carry out their own research if they have any concern about train, tube, tram lines or flight paths."

It is billed as a 'great London bolt hole'.

If this doesn't quite do it for you, though, how about spending £50,000 less and investing in a house boat instead?

An amazing, spacious houseboat in London is offering prospective homeowners an affordable and eco-friendly way to live in the capital, having been put on the market for under £150,000 ($190,000).

The two-bedroom 'Kathleen Alexander' widebeam houseboat is currently located on the Regents Canal in London, and is on a £1,000 ($1,200) 'Continuous Cruising' license - which means you simply have to move 20-30 miles in total over the course of a year, moving the boat every couple of weeks.

The boat was constructed from Corten Weathering Steel, which requires little maintenance and is thought to make the vessel the only one of its kind.

Inside there's a large kitchen and living area, a full width master bedroom, a single bedroom and wet room with bath, gas shower and toilet.

There are also front and rear decks with outdoor seating, meaning you won't even have to leave your house to catch some rays or get some fresh air.

It's being sold via Rightmove for £149,950.
