A manager of a supermarket has said that despite winning £1 million that he'll keep working his day job.

Shawn Keeley, 26, paid £5 for the winning scratchy, saying that he 'checked every inch' of the Lotto card before allowing himself to believe it was real.

He even consulted with his family and friends before accepting it was real, but will carry on working at his job as manager of Eurospar in Dungiven, County Derry.

With his winnings, Shawn wants to get his mum a garden shed, himself a fancy Range Rover, go on a big holiday to America and share the wealth with his nearest and dearest.

Shawn said: "As I was leaving work around 5.30pm on Saturday evening, I bought a couple of £5 scratchcards with my winnings.

"I really couldn't believe it. At first I thought it must be a fake card and I checked every inch of it to make sure it was real," he explained.

"Then I double checked all the numbers and they looked good too, so I gave the card to my mum and dad to have a look.

"They also checked it again and again and agreed that it looked like I'd won - but I still didn't believe it."

And although he's now officially a millionaire, Shawn will carry on working at his job, saying he loves it and that he has a 'great relationship' with the owners.

While he was trying to work out whether he really had won big, he had a call from one of the assistants in his store.

Shawn said his immediate thought was: "I've been the victim of an elaborate prank."

But, to his relief, it turned out that there was a problem with the fridge in the shop, so he went in to look at getting it fixed. He then went to his friends' garden party on the Saturday evening.

He said that one of his mates asked him what he'd been up to.

Shawn said: "I replied, 'nothing much, I just won a million quid on a scratchcard', and then the party really got under way!"

After he's bought his new four by four, and booked himself a luxurious holiday (hopefully, he will be able to travel), he will help out his family with his new found fortune.

He added: "I'll give a little something to my mum, dad and three brothers."
