A woman has been rushed to hospital after being thrown from a ride at Hull Fair.

According to reports, witnesses claimed the unnamed woman fell from the Airmaxx 360 'just as it set off'.

One person said: "It's been shut and the emergency services are there. There is a lot of blood. It doesn't look good."

Speaking to LADbible, one onlooker who was there with her two young children, said: "We were there just as the police rushed around her and the St John's Ambulance was there very quickly too.

"Without being too graphic she had facial injuries and was placed on a spinal board with a neck brace and tubes in her mouth."

Humberside Police confirmed the woman had been taken to hospital and said another boy was also injured in the incident.

A spokesman for the force said: "A woman has been taken to hospital for treatment after falling from a ride at Hull Fair this evening Monday 7 October.

"It's believed she fell from one ride onto the base of a nearby ride and injured herself. It also appears a teenager who was on the ground also received minor injuries.

"Both rides have been closed while officers and health and safety officials from Hull City Council work together to establish what happened."

Chief Inspector Paul Kirby, Tactical Commander for Hull Fair, said: "A woman has sadly been seriously injured this evening at Hull Fair and taken to hospital by ambulance.

"We do not believe her injuries are life threatening or life changing.

"A teenage boy was struck by the woman as she fell. He thankfully only sustained minor injuries.

"We have very well established plans in place with the council for any incident like this at the fair, and I want to thank everyone for their patience while we deal with this.

"I am appealing for anyone who might have seen what happened, or who has any video footage of it to contact us.

"Please quote log 514 of 7/10/19."

A spokesperson for Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at about 19:03 to reports someone had fallen from a ride.

"St John's Ambulance provide cover at Hull Fair and so the incident was handled by them and they transported one male to Hull Royal Infirmary with minor injuries and one female to Hull Royal Infirmary with [query] multiple injuries."

According to reports from Hull Live, another ride, The Sizzler, has also been closed.
