The woman known only as Jenny said she used his credit card to pay for the ad.

A woman known only as Jenny has taken out a full-page ad in an Australian newspaper to send a very clear message.

Readers are regularly greeted with large ads from big-name companies trying to spruik their latest offering.

However, those who were flicking through the Mackay and Whitsunday Life paper today (August 12) would have been shocked when they turned over to page four.

There, in gigantic letters, was clear proof of a woman scorned.

It read: "Dear Steve, I hope you’re happy with her. Now the whole town will know what a filthy cheater you are. From Jenny."

She added right at the end that she used his credit card to pay for the ad, which probably cost a hell of a lot of money.

Naturally, everyone in the country wants to know who Steve and Jenny are, if that's even their real names.

The newspaper has issued a statement to answer some of the people's burning questions.

Mackay and Whitsunday Life wrote on Facebook: "We have been inundated with dozens of messages this morning about the Advert on Page 4 of Mackay Life - As there’s too many to reply to; we would like to address it here.

"We do NOT know who Steve is, but apparently he’s been very very bad.

"We won’t be revealing any details about Jenny.

"We have not charged the credit card in question."

Well, that's at least good news for Steve, however it's safe to say that he might be laying low in his home town if these allegations are true.

People have called the move from Jenny 'brilliant' and praised her for putting their relationship drama up for the public's consumption.

One person said: "Jenny sounds like someone I want to be friends with."

Another added: “Not all heroine‘s wear capes. Jenny is my new favourite person."

A third wrote: “Couldn’t love this more if I tried LOL… Good on you Jenny.'

Some people even said they had a mistrust of all men named Steve now, which isn't fair on them; they haven't done anything.

It's anyone's guess whether we'll get to know any more of this dirty laundry, but you can bet there's one bloke in Australia right now who will be terrified.

Hell hath no fury like a Jenny scorned.
