Get Prepped For Metro: Exodus With Metro 2033, Now Free On Steam

Get Prepped For Metro: Exodus With Metro 2033, Now Free On Steam

We bet that upcoming Metro: Exodus, the next in line to 4A Games' survival shooter series, feels a million miles away, so why not jump back into an earlier Metro story - completely free?

Per a sneaky update by 4A, 2010's Metro 2033 costs absolutely nothing on Steam right now. Make sure you hurry, though, as this offer won't stick around for much longer.

In fact, you've only got a few hours left to download it (free of charge). The promotion, probably introduced to stop hardcore Metro fans getting lost in today's Red Dead Redemption 2, ends at 6pm BST/10am PT/1pm ET today.

All you have to do is head straight to Metro 2033's Steam page, click "Install Game," and it's yours forever. It doesn't even matter if you start the download then or later - just hit that button and it locks to your account.

Although you might not be a huge Metro fan, or have already played it countless times on other platforms, it's free! Take advantage of it whilst you can. Who knows, you could find your new/rediscover your old favourite game.

Unfortunately, this isn't the Redux version which released in 2014. That title fully updated 2033, improving AI and weapons, and introducing a new "Spartan" mode that centred gameplay around action rather than stealth.

Of course, that might not matter if your fond of a sneaky game, but if you want to work your way through the entire Metro series before February - when Exodus releases - Redux might be worth the investment.

It includes remastered versions of both 2033 and Metro: Last Light, sequel to 2033 and the latest instalment to the franchise. Even more, it's currently on sale at Steam, similar to the regular Last Light, if you'd prefer an original experience.

And once you've worked your way through those, you're pretty much set and ready for Exodus: Reprising your role as Artyom two years after the events of Last Light, Exodus continues your journey with Spartan Rangers as you venture for the far east, surviving a post-apocalyptic Earth with every step.
