Etika's Friends And Fans Honour His Memory With Graffiti Mural In Brooklyn
Desmond "Etika" Amofah was a popular YouTuber, avid Nintendo fan, and - according to those that were lucky enough to know him - a truly wonderful human being.
It was a tragic shock then, when police discovered the body of the 29 year old in Manhattan's East River back in June. This heartbreaking news came days after the YouTuber was reported missing, having just uploaded a lengthy video discussing suicide and immediately sparking fears for his safety.
In honour of his memory, a group of artists recently came together to pay tribute to Amofah in their own way. Fellow YouTuber Double A took to Twitter to unveil the touching memorial mural, which you can see below. It currently graces the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York.
We present to you the Art Mural dedicated to the legend Desmond Etika Amofah! Please share and RT. Pls use #joyconboyzforever when you post your pics/vids and tag us. Shoutout to the amazing artists @bkfoxx & #kestaadm with support from @jmzwalls

The mural pays tribute to Etika with a number of sweet references. Besides the obvious - his smiling face looking out at us - you can also see the phrases "take care of yourself" and "have yourself a damn good one". There are a couple of nods to Nintendo too, including Joy-Cons (Etika coined the popular phrase "Joy-Con Boyz"), and the Super Smash Bros logo.
Double A worked in collaboration with artists bkfoxx, kestaadm and jmzwalls to put the piece together. You'll also be glad to know that the mural is "100 percent legal" and approved by the building owner, so don't expect the authorities to demand it be taken down or washed away any time soon.
With that said, Double A expects that the piece will only be up for around six to nine months. So, if you are around or visiting New York, be sure to swing by 1280 Myrtle Avenue in Brooklyn to check it out. Oh, and don't forget to tag your social media posts with #joyconboyzforever if you do stop by.
Tomorrow we'll be filming around 2pm, please come by so we can capture your reactions. Don't forget to shout out @NAMICommunicate
Also, The Etika mural will be up for roughly 6-9 months depending on the attention it gets so spread the word and visit with your friends & family.

In the wake of Amofah's passing, fans and streamers came together to encourage each other to pick up the phone, open up a DM, or find someone to talk to if they ever found themselves feeling lonely, depressed, or overwhelmed. In the wake of this wonderful mural, it's a good time to remember that sentiment.
