Woman Returns From Holiday With Stray Dog Who Wouldn’t Leave Her Side

Depending on where you like to holiday, there can sometimes be an abundance of stray animals.

Whether they be cats, dogs, cows, pigs, whatever, there are loads of countries where animals seemingly roam the streets without owners.

While they might be cute or adorable or beautiful, many of us will avoid petting them, instead choosing to ignore them or send them on their way. However, one woman has decided to bring a stray dog home because it wouldn't leave her side.

Lucy Clydesdale was holidaying in Turkey when a pooch followed her home from the beach to her hotel.

Naming the dog Jessie, the 20-year-old beautician later said: "We were walking home along the beach and lots of stray dogs followed us up until the hotel, but Jessie followed us all the way to our room. The next morning she appeared on the beach and from then on she wouldn't leave our side.

"She'd walk to restaurants with us and even sit by the pool and wait until we came out. It was when people in the hotel noticed how attached she was and said they'd never seen anything like it before, that we started to think we really had to keep her."

While it was fun for the holiday, Lucy never thought she'd be able to actually look after the dog.

However, another holidaymaker at her hotel suggested she check out Gumbet Stray Animals, which is a volunteering agency for strays - so that's exactly what she did.

An employee at the agency had a chat with Lucy and told her exactly how it would be possible to adopt Jessie and take her back to the UK.

"I messaged one of the admins and she came along to our hotel to have a chat and show me photos and success stories of other dogs which had been adopted," Lucy said.

"It hasn't actually sunk in yet that she'll be here eventually, but I'll definitely be spoiling her as much as possible as soon as she arrives.

"It doesn't feel right being back home without her because she was constantly by our side and the last few days it got harder knowing we'd have to say goodbye.

"But the woman who is fostering her for a few months has been updating me with pictures. I just can't wait to see her and give her an amazing life."

Lucy is now getting everything prepared for when Jessie makes the trip from Turkey to Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham.
