Lad Randomly Adds Girl On Facebook, Now They're In A Long-Distance Relationship

They live 10,000 miles away from each other...

Sometimes, you'll see someone you like the look of on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and think to yourself that they're really fit.

You then have a few options:

  • Imagine your life together, look on Rightmove for flats that you could afford together and consider dog names while perusing animal shelter websites
  • Instantly despise them because you just KNOW they'd turn you down anyway so what's the point
  • Slide into their DMs
  • Send a cheeky little friend request

The worst thing that'll happen? They'll ignore your message/friend request.

This man, Michael Young, 25, is who we should all aspire to be. He saw Rebecca Luff, 18, on Facebook and thought: 'Fuck it' and sent her a friend request. Now, they're in a relationship despite the fact that he lives in Adelaide, Australia and she lives in Plymouth, Devon.

That was back in 2015, and despite only meeting IRL (that's 'In Real Life' for all you non-trendy types) once, they're blissfully happy. It takes over 20 hours for them to travel to see each other (and probably costs a fair amount too) so only meeting once is very understandable.

Michael visited Rebecca for three weeks, and the pair even managed to squeeze in a mini-break to Amsterdam while he was over.

She told The Sun: "When we first met it was like I had known him my whole life, it wasn't awkward at all. We just clicked.

"When we first started talking, I never thought it would be this serious.

"Nobody took us seriously for a long time; I think everyone thought it was all a bit bizarre."

They spoke on Skype and Facebook for over a year before meeting.

She added: "I'm so excited to finally be able to go and visit the places he regularly tells me about, and of course finally get to meet his family and friends properly.

"It's strange because I already feel like I know them, we're Facebook friends and I regularly speak to them when we're on Skype to each other.

"His Nan is letting me borrow her car whilst I'm there so I can travel around whilst Michael is at work, which is lovely.

"The best part is, everyone is so supportive, and my Dad always tells me to do these crazy things whilst I'm young."

When it comes to the future, the pair haven't yet decided where they'd move to. Rebecca said: "It sounds incredibly cheesy, but if it's meant to be we will find a way to make it work".
