Man shocked after receiving alarming message from boss when he said he wouldn’t make it into office

Man shocked after receiving alarming message from boss when he said he wouldn’t make it into office

The reply came after a delay in receiving his payslip, not for the first time

This employee was left with his jaw on the floor after receiving a surprising text message from his boss.

After telling his employer that he was not coming in due to a pay cheque dispute, he got a reply that he didn't expect, and shared it on Reddit.

The response probably left him wanting to do this in retaliation:

The Sydney-based worker posted the text message exchange he shared with his superior at work on the social media app, and people were not impressed.

Revealing that he hadn't been paid for superannuation since he started the job and that he plans to take his employer to the Fair Work Ombudsman, he captioned the screenshot with an explanation as to why he was so upset.

"We were meant to be paid last Friday, the boss comes in on Friday morning and tells us all our wages will be delayed this week and we'll be paid on Thursday this week," he said.

The frustrated worker also details that not just his, but his colleague's wages have been consistently late this year because of 'the business cash flow issues'.

"Late wages are just one of the many symptoms that we've been facing as a result of this,

"No chance i’m going to work if i’m owed over $2.2k (£1.15k), so I messaged my manager to let him know I won’t be in this morning and this was his response," he prefaced.

He then received a response from his boss's assistant, which read: "You will have this week off and it will be not paid, you will be coming back next Monday, the 6/05/2024. And he will discuss your employment situation on that day."

The threat also included a warning not to call his boss during the week-long absence.

Not that this worried the employee though, as he also stated: "I've been looking for other jobs already anyway, and the big kicker is the boss is f***ed without me."

Apparently, he works at a tiny company with just three staff in office, where he is relied on for 'absolutely everything' - more reason to treat your staff better, surely?

"I'm primarily a technician but over the past two years, I've had to do all sorts of s**t because of the lack of competence with other staff and the boss himself," the man claimed.

He revealed his plans to raise the problem with the Fair Work Ombudsman, stating that he has a 'whole stack of evidence of unethical/illegal business practices the boss engages in'.

Numerous Reddit users were left feeling very strongly in the comments, shocked with his boss' choice of words.

One said: "The best part is old mate put this in writing for you."

Another put: "I wouldn’t even respond, I’d get a solicitor, or FairWork to respond for you. That’s f***ed."

A third posted: "Not paying you in a timely manner is already illegal. You’re doing the right thing, but it won’t help you. Start looking for a new job."
