The words 'UK' and 'luxury safari lodge' aren't four words you expect to read in the same sentence - but you'd better believe it'll soon become a reality.

West Midland Safari Park will soon be opening eight exclusive lodges which are being integrated into the newly-updated animal habitats, overlooking African elephants and cheetahs, designed to give guests an up-close and personal overnight wildlife experience like no other.

What an experience.

The website states that the lodges will each be 'nestled into their own secluded area' with six offering overnight accommodation with African elephants and a further two offering views of the majestic cheetahs.

The stays will be available to book in the summer (although we don't know exactly when). If you want to stay up to date, you can sign up to the mailing list to be among the first to hear when bookings go live.

You will be able to sit back and watch the wildlife as night falls over the reserves, while you enjoy an evening meal, freshly-prepared by the park's chefs.

After a good night's sleep, you'll wake up with views of the animals and even eat your breakfast together - albeit with some distance in between (phew).

When you book one of the lodges you will get exclusive views of the animals, admission to the Park during the day and Theme Park wristbands.

Replying to questions on social media, West Midlands Safari Park wrote: "The lodges will be authentically themed and allow guests exclusive views of the animals. Guests are encouraged to make use of the outdoor terrace in the elephant lodges, to watch the magnificent creatures approach their pool, situated in front.

"The cheetah lodges include a large window, spanning one side of the building, offering panoramic views of the cheetahs in their new habitat. A floor-to-ceiling window offers similar, incredible views in the bedrooms."

They did explain that the progress is in 'Phase 1' of the development plan with all future plans being 'continually reviewed'. West Midlands Safari Park confirmed that they are yet to release any prices.
