Clare went absolutely viral when she made up a story about witnessing a shooting.

It's never fun when someone points out how old someone or something is because then it makes you feel really old.

But we feel it's necessary to point out that's been a decade since Aussie audiences were graced with the whacky, wild and incredible 'Chk Chk Boom' woman.

For those unaware, the following video shows Clare Werbeloff pretending like she saw what happened when a shooting broke out in Sydney's Kings Cross on a casual May evening.

Despite the incident being serious, the then 19-year-old saw the TV cameras and decided to seize her moment.

"There were these two wogs fighting," she told Channel 9. "The fatter wog said to the skinnier wog: 'Oi bro, you slept with my cousin.' And the other one said: 'Nah man, I didn't for shit, eh' and the other one goes: 'I will call on my fully sick boys, eh.'

"And then pulled out a gun and went 'Chk Chk boom'."

You can't read that or watch the video and not think 'iconic'. I mean, the casual racism in using the word 'wog' was certainly picked up by some people watching the segment.

One of the shooting victims told news.com.au: "I'm just a bit upset about the fact that I've been shot and that I almost lost my life and there's this girl all over the news getting popular all because she has no brains."

Fair call, really. Imagine getting shot and then some woman says something, which then gets printed on anything and everything.

The best part about the whole thing was that Clare made the story up. None of what she said was true.

Acting Kings Cross Police crime manager, Detective Inspector Matt McQueen told the Sydney Morning Herald that they interviewed her because she could be a good witness in an attempted murder case.

But then it all fell through.

"We have interviewed her and she has not witnessed the shooting. She has admitted to making it all up and has not witnessed the shooting."

Clare refused to speak to the media after that was uncovered but then she appeared on A Current Affair where she insisted she wasn't racist.

"I'm not a racist at all. It was just a joke and I was just having fun with the media," she told the Channel 9 programme. "I don't want to be known as a racist...I love everyone."

Who knows what she's up to now but she's probably staying away from the limelight. Her former manager, Max Markson told Mumbrella's podcast that she's doing speech therapy as a profession and doesn't want to be involved in anymore 'chk chk boom' media.
