Lad Put In Solitary Confinement At School Because Of 'Extreme Haircut' He's Had For Three Years

Really though?

When someone says 'extreme hairstyle' you're thinking like a pink spiked mohawk or a rainbow tie die spiral perm or some shit. You're probably not thinking a short back and sides.

But for poor school kid Kieran, 14, his short back and sides has left him placed in isolation at school even though he's had the same haircut for the past three years.

His mum, Jenni London, has gone crazy about it, understandably, and can't understand why her son, who has only missed two days of school since 2013, is being punished.

Jenni's complaints centre around the fact she doesn't want her son to be put in isolation for such a silly reason and that solitary confinement deprives him of his human rights.

"He's always had the same haircut but now they have just suddenly decided it's too short and they have put him in isolation, in a little booth on his own. I'm absolutely disgusted. He goes to school to learn. That's why I send him there, but he's just been sat there doing a worksheet for two days."

Kieran even has to spend his break times in solitary confinement.

The school, in Raynes Park, south-west London, defended the actions taken against Kieran and say he has been placed in an 'Achievement Improvement Centre'. Sounds like bureaucratic rubbish to me, but who am I to question them, right?

Headteacher Kirsten Heard from Raynes Park High School said: "We consider that a severe haircut, where the scalp is visible, is not in line with our Uniform Policy and we have kindly requested that our students have a longer version of this current style.

"The school's high expectations are stated clearly to parents, carers and students via post, email, the website and assemblies."

Yawn. The lad has a haircut, relax. It's not like he's trying to emulate David Beckham...

Got to say I'm on Team Kieran here.
