The teenage lad who filmed the 'Damn, Daniel' video fell victim to a prank on Tuesday, when someone made a hoax 911 call to report a shooting at his house.

According to ABC, law enforcement responded to a call around 1am after the caller said 'a boy had shot his mother in the head with an AK-47.'

However, it all turned out to be a prank. Daaaaaaaamn. Piss-takers called in the shooting to Josh Holz's house - the lad who filmed the video - as part of a 'swatting' joke. Swatting is a not-so-hilarious internet gag where jokers call in a bomb threat or report a shooting at the address of their online enemy. The police are duty bound to respond to calls of this nature.

For anybody who doesn't live their lives on the internet, here's a refresher on Damn Daniel. A high school kid from California, called Daniel, became an overnight celebrity after starring in a spoof video, filmed and narrated by Josh Holz, about his outfit choices.

Why anybody would want to punish Josh for creating this slice of viral gold is beyond me, but here we are.

Police lieutenant Kevin Townsend told ABC: "Ever since their video has gone out, [Holz's family] received a number of what they call strange phone calls and emails, and a lot of strange things happening, so tonight was just another incident for their family."

I guess that's the price that comes with being an overnight internet sensation, huh? Damn, Daniel.
