It's been a few weeks since the world discovered that whoever set up KFC's official Twitter account appreciates a good, understated joke.
Twitter-user Mike Edgette was the first to spot that the Colonel's account followed Geri Horner, Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Melanie C, Victoria Beckham, Herb Scribner, Herb J Wesson Jr, Herb Waters, Herb Dean, Herb Sendek and Herb Alpert - or '11 herbs and spices'. Pretty funny, isn't it?
Social media users thought this cute little Easter egg was amazing and before he knew it Mike's original tweet had been around the world about six times, picking up 322k retweets and 715k likes.

It was also featured in newspapers and websites across the world, so that all adds up to a lot of free publicity for the Colonel and his staff. And is sure to have boosted sales, I mean, tell me you're not thinking about going and getting some right now?
Now, you may be wondering, 'what did Mike for being the first person to point this out?' Other than social media fame, of course. Free KFC for life? The highly guarded secret recipe to the aforementioned herds and spices? A job at KFC's social media department?
No, no and no. Mike got something far better.

Sometimes, something is just far too beautiful for us to pass comment on; us mere mortals are not worthy - this is one such time. Sure, it might be considered ever so slightly disrespectful to the Colonel, who was actually a real person, but it's not like his face isn't already splashed all over the place is it?
