***WARNING: ARTICLE MAY CONTAIN FART PUNS***

A woman who sells farts in jars has shocked daytime TV viewers with the 'science' behind her business. Watch here:

As we all know, the world isn't getting any simpler. In the past, a school careers advisor may have suggested you get a job in an office or a factory. Nowadays, if a student comes along saying they plan on making a fortune selling farts in a jar, who is that careers advisor to tell them it's a pipedream?

Stephanie Matto is living proof that this is a legitimate line of work these days.

The 90 Day Fiancé TV star, from Connecticut, USA, is running a booming business selling jars of her ar** fragrance, and she opened up about her trade on Steph's Packed Lunch - which incidentally could also be a pretty good name for her fart jar business.

Explaining how she got into flogging farts, the 31-year-old said: "I had a YouTube channel for about eight years and a lot of my fans that were into me were asking for strange items, articles of clothing.

"But one repeat request I've been getting throughout the years is a fart.

"I thought it was just a joke, people just messing with me, but one day I decided to throw them up on sale and see if people would buy them. I wasn't expecting people to but they actually sold out within two days."

Fuelling the engine.

Offering a behind the scenes glimpse at how it all works, she continued: "I have it down to a pretty good science.

"I bought these fabric flower petals and I fart directly on them because the fabric really captures the scent better.

"And then I just put that flower petal into a jar, I seal it up, I tape it and then I ship it out."

The business has absolutely exploded, and now Steph is enjoying the sweet smell of success.

She said: "Up until this point, I have sold over 220 jars. And they are ranging in price from $500 (£369) to $1,000 (£738). So to date, I have made almost $200,000 (£147,680)."

So while some may have doubts about her profession, that kind of income is certainly not to be sniffed at.

Unsurprisingly, Steph's trade secrets - including details about eating cheese and cabbage soup to create certain aromas - shocked a lot of viewers, many of whom were probably sitting down for lunch:

Unfortunately for Steph though, an occupational hazard meant her production was recently halted.

The bum burp merchant wound up in A&E with symptoms of a 'heart attack' and doctors performed blood tests and an electrocardiogram (EKG/ECG) to try and work out what was going on.

It transpired that the symptoms were actually caused by excess gas from her diet of beans, eggs and banana protein shakes - which she feasts on to ensure that supply can meet demand.

She said: "I thought I was having a stroke and that these were my final moments. I was overdoing it."

Steph has since said she is 'retiring from the fart jar business soon and branching out into the digital world of NFTs'.

Steph's Packed Lunch is on weekdays at 12.30pm.
