Netflix has just dropped the trailer for Lupin part 2, which is due to be released in June.

The comedy series sees the cunning, reformed thief, Assane Diop (played by Omar Sy from The Untouchables), set out to avenge his father for an injustice inflicted by a wealthy family.

The first series came out on Netflix in January this year, so fans haven't had to wait too long for a second instalment.

Lupin part 2: release date and how to watch it

Lupin will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix from 11th June 2021. Season 1 is already available to download if you fancy a recap before watching the new episodes.

Is Lupin a true story?

Yes. The Netflix series is based on the adventures of Arsène Lupin, a character created by French novelist and short story writer, Maurice Leblanc, in 1905.

Leblanc's character is the subject of several crime novels and short stories and is the inspiration for the Netflix series.

But we bet you didn't know that the character was originally named Arsène Lopin, until a politician with the same name at the time protested against sharing his name with a fictional thief.

The Netflix original series stars Omar Sy alongside Hervé Pierre (de la Comédie Française), Nicole Garcia (Who You Think I Am), Clotilde Hesme (Chocolat), Ludivine Sagnier (The New Pope), Antoine Gouy (Budapest), Shirine Boutella (Papicha) and Soufiane Guerrab (School Life).
