According to a source who spoke to E! News, the film's halt meant that Megan and MGK had plenty of "downtime" together to get to know each other.

Following this, in May 2020, the two were spotted grabbing takeout food together in Calabasas, LA. It came as rumours began to surface that Megan was quarantining separately to her husband of ten years, actor Brian Austin Green.
MGK made his relationship with Megan official in July 2020 and she followed a week later on her Instagram.

Megan and Brian started dating in 2004 and broke up in 2006, before getting married in 2010. They filed for divorce in 2016, then reconciled, but then Megan filed for divorce for a second time in November 2020.

Shortly after MGK and Megan were spotted out in Calabasas in May 2020, Brian confirmed on his podcast - ...with Brian Austin Green - that he and Megan had been on a break since December 2019.
"She said, 'I realized when I was out of the country working alone that I feel more like myself and I liked myself better during that experience and I think that might be something worth trying for me,'" he recalled during the episode. "I was shocked and I was upset about it, but I can't be upset at her because she didn't ask to feel that way. It wasn't a choice she made, that's the way she honestly felt," he added.
