Following the news that one of Tiger King's zookeepers and Netflix star, Erik Cowie, was found dead at the age of 52, people are wondering where Joe Exotic is now.
Exotic and Cowie were the stars of the hit Netflix true-crime documentary Tiger King, which was released in March 2020.
Exotic was convicted of a string of offences relating to animal welfare as well as plotting to kill the owner of a big cat sanctuary who tried to expose him.
What is the story behind Tiger King?
Tiger King is a Netflix true crime series about the gun wielding owner of G.W Zoo - an exotic wild animal zoo in Oklahoma - Joe Maldonado-Passage - aka Joe Exotic.

Exotic was accused of abusing and exploiting wild animals by the CEO of Big Cat Rescue, a Florida-based sanctuary which advocates for the end of cruelty for big cats in captivity, Carole Baskin.
The Netflix series predominantly follows the bitter and years-long feud between Baskin and Exotic and the eventual conviction of Exotic for hiring a hitman to kill Baskin.
Where is Joe Extoic now? Is Tiger King still in prison?
Joe Exotic was handed 22 years in jail for a string of offences including murder-for-hire, animal abuse and exploitation, and violating the Endangered Species Act and Lacey Act.

Exotic was incarcerated in January 2020, so he is less than two years into his sentence and therefore is still in prison.
If he serves all of his sentence in jail, he'll be released in 2042 and will be aged 80.
What happened to Carole Baskin?
Carole Baskin continues to manage Big Cat Rescue, which she established with her husband, Don Lewis, who left his wife and kids to marry Baskin in 1991.
Baskin's appearance in Tiger King shone a light on the big mystery surrounding her husband's mysterious disappearance in 1992. Having never really found out what happened to him, he was legally declared dead in 2002.

Baskin got married again in 2004 to her current husband, Howard Baskin, and she has one child.
Baskin is now also the owner of Joe Exotic's zoo as well as enjoying her new-found fame following the success of the Netflix documentary. In 2020, she competed on the US talent show Dancing with the Stars.
