Following the recent news of Simon Cowell and Lauren Silverman’s engagement after 13 years of dating, onlookers everywhere are wondering who Andrew Silverman is and what role he plays in this complex love-triangle.
If you can cast your mind back to 2013, you might remember Simon Cowell and Lauren Silverman first going public with their adulterous relationship, where it was revealed Silverman was ten weeks pregnant with Cowell’s son.
Well, the man left in the dust was her now-ex husband, Andrew Silverman, a New-York born real estate tycoon and businessman.
Outside of his high-profile family-fallout, Silverman graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and made his wealth by trading at French bank Credit Lyonnais. He then went on to become the chief investment officer at his family’s company, Andalex.
All numbers correct as of 12th January 2022
Andrew Silverman has an estimated net worth of $30 Million (£22 Million).
It’s reported that the businessman enlarged his family business alongside his brother, Allen Silverman. Silverman also owns Silver Entertainment and Gaming, completing a series of impressive business deals for the entertainment company.
It’s also reported that the New-York-made tycoon is venturing out to Florida to purchase sports and gambling venues from bankrupt companies.
Andrew Silverman was born in Manhattan, New York, in 1975, making him 47-years-old in 2022. His exact date of birth is unknown, though.
The entrepreneur was raised in the fancy Upper East Side of the city, being born to wealthy real-estate tycoons Allen and Eleonore Silverman. His family founded the property firm The Andalex Group in 1980, coming up with the business name by combining Andrew, and his brother Alexander’s name.
The family is also said to own a series of apartments in Manhattan and a home outside the city in Stamford, Connecticut which is worth $4.5 Million (£3.3 Million).
Andrew Silverman has not yet re-married following the Lauren Silverman and Simon Cowell drama, although he is in fact engaged to someone new.
In August 2015, it was reported that he proposed to his new partner, Samantha Lerner Zimmerman, 41, a fellow businesswoman who owns Mish Mish, a children’s clothing store in New York.
Some years on from their engagement, it is not clear whether the lovebirds have in fact wed, or are still making arrangements for their wedding.
His famous breakup and business knowledge has made for some interesting tidbits about the tycoon. From his surprising open-book outlook on life to sharing what he knows with his family, Silverman is more than just a businessman with a huge net worth.
1) He wasn’t embarrassed about discussing his ex-wife’s infidelity
Despite the publicized affair of his ex-wife and Simon Cowell being no doubt a hurtful and upsetting experience, Silverman had no quarrels with discussing his ex-wife’s infidelity.
He told The New York Observer soon after: “It was a fascinating experience, unexpected and shocking...I learned a lot, moved forward.” Kudos to him for taking it all in his stride.
2) He actually became friends with Simon Cowell again after the ordeal
In December of 2017, several publications reported that Silverman and Cowell put the past in the past and decided to remain friends.
It was even reported that it was Silverman who reached out to Cowell and forgave him.
3) He’s started to introduce his son to the world of business
Most teenagers know all about the likes of social media, gaming and sport - very few know about business. Not Silverman’s son, though. At just age 16, the son of the tycoon has already been exposed to the world of business management.
Silverman’s son is very important to the business-owner. In fact, Silverman told The New York Observer at the time of his ordeal that: “I learned a lot about myself as an individual, the importance of family. My focus has been on my son throughout the whole ordeal.”
