Katy Perry Shares News Of The Death Of Her Cat Kitty Purry

Katy Perry has shared her despair online after the death of her beloved cat, Kitty Purry.

Yes, that's a great name for a cat, but it's still a sad time for the singer, this is no joke.

The 35-year-old singer took to Instagram to pour her heart out to her 94 million followers over the death of her 15 year old pet.

To be fair, not many cats manage to reach that sort of audience, it's kind of a fitting epitaph.

Anyway, alongside a message of sorrow, she posted some adorable pictures showing the good times the pair spent together.

In one of the pictures, Katy can be seen holding the cat, who - as is the case with many cats - doesn't look massively enamoured with the idea of being held up. In another, she showed herself having a chat over FaceTime with her cat

That one is a little bit strange, but whatever.

The third shows a tender moment between the 'Firework' singer and her much-missed moggy.

Sad times. Sad times, indeed.

She wrote: "Kitty Purry crawled through my then-boyfriend's window 15 years ago, fully pregnant and seeking shelter.

"Two litters and many moons later, this street cat became a lovable mascot to many.

"Sadly, Kitty completed her 9th life last night. I hope she rests in salmon fillets and tuna tartare way up in catnip heaven. Kitty, thanks for the cuddles and companionship along the way.

"Big thanks to my brother David and @garethwalters for being great co-parents :broken_heart: #kittypurryforever"

Since she shared the photographs, she's been inundated with messages of support and sympathy. The photo has also been liked more than 1.2 million times.

Again, those are big numbers by any standards, let alone for a cat.

Well, despite all of this sad news, there is some good news on the way for Perry and her partner Orlando Bloom, as the pair announced that they are expecting their first child at some point over the summer.

After some speculation, the musician removed all doubt by posing in a specific way in the music video for her song 'Never Worn White'.

She confirmed the news by posting on social media to say: "Omg so glad I don't have to suck it in anymore... or carry around a big purse lol."

There you have it.

Whilst it's Katy's first child, Bloom already has one son, nine-year-old Flynn, with his ex-wife Miranda Kerr.
