Arctic Monkeys' setlist from first night of UK tour is massive news for old school fans

Old school fans of Arctic Monkeys were treated to some of the band's classics in Bristol last night.

Arctic Monkeys made their long-awaited return to the big stage last night (29 May) in Bristol, in what marked the start of their latest UK stadium tour.

The Sheffield-based band wowed fans in the south-west, particularly the old school ones who got to hear a favourite for the first time in ten years.

The band will head to Coventry next on 31 May, before two dates in Manchester on the 2 and 3 June.

Arctic Monkeys will then head to Norwich's Carrow Road, before heading up north to their home city of Sheffield.

Other dates on the tour include Swansea, Southampton, London and Dublin, before ending in Glasgow on 25 June.

But back to the first date in Bristol, and fans were treated to a total of 21 songs, which were mostly fan favourites with only three from the band's latest album The Car, which released last October.

The setlist took a trip down memory lane.

Old school fans of the band were delighted from the off, as Jamie Cook, Alex Turner and co started the set with 2006 classic 'Mardy Bum'.

Last night's Bristol showed marked the first time Arctic Monkeys have performed the original album version of the song since 2007, while it was last played live by the band in 2013.

But 'Mardy Bum' wasn't the only trip down memory lane Arctic Monkeys took last night, as they also treated fans to the first performance of 'My Propeller' in close to a decade.

Elsewhere in the show, the band performed the likes of '505’, ‘Arabella', 'Teddy Picker’, ‘The View From The Afternoon’ and ‘Fluorescent Adolescent', before ending with all-time favourites ‘I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor’ and ‘R U Mine?’.

In between all their stadium tour dates this summer, Arctic Monkeys are also headlining this year's Glastonbury, alongside Guns N' Roses and Elton John.

It will be the first time the indie band have returned to Worthy Farm since 2013, and fans cannot wait.

Last time out, they entertained 90,000 fans at the long-running festival, with the band telling NME they 'couldn’t have given it any more'.

Shorty after coming off stage, Alex Turner told the outlet: "I couldn’t have asked for anything more really – it was cool wasn’t it?

"My favourite bit was the encore [with Kane]. But then again, the start, ‘Do I Wanna Know?’, was absolutely amazing too. To see everybody moving like that blew me away."

"We couldn’t have given it any more," guitarist Jamie Cook added.

Here's hoping this year's performance will be just as special.
