Ben Affleck has finally addressed his ‘resting face’ always making him look sad in photos

Ben Affleck has become a meme for his resting face before, but he insists it's just the way he is, and he's actually having a good time

Ben Affleck has addressed his ‘unhappy-looking’ face that sometimes sees him become a meme because he looks like he’s really not having a good time.

Affleck gets to go to some seriously swanky events, the Oscars, the Golden Globes, you name it.

However, he never seems to be having that great a time.

Well, that's if you go off the pictures that emerge from these events.

That’s because – like many of us – he simply has a resting face that makes him look bored, slightly p***ed off and generally unhappy.

Affleck insists that it's just a 'common misconception'.
Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The 50-year-old actor and director has become an internet meme on a number of occasions for his uninspiring facial expressions, most recently at the Grammys, where he really seemed to be having a bit of an existential crisis.

However, speaking to Jimmy Kimmel on his talk show, the Gone Girl star said it’s a ‘common misconception’ that he isn’t having fun.

In fact, Kimmel referenced a party that Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’ attended in December, with Affleck stating there was some ‘awkwardness’ on his part.

Kimmel said: “It did seem like you weren’t quite as psyched about the party as everybody else was.”

Laughing Affleck replied: “See, that’s a common misconception about me.”

This is apparently his 'content' face.

He went on to explain how he has a ‘very unhappy-looking resting face’ and then showed off two identical faces that were supposed to represent ‘content’ and ‘amused’.

“That’s how God made me,” Affleck added.

“You don’t have to punish me for it.”

Recently, after the Grammys controversy, Affleck had to confirm again that he was – in actual truth – having fun.

He told The Hollywood Reporter: “I had a good time at the Grammys.

“My wife was going, and I thought: ‘Well, there’ll be good music. It might be fun.’

“At movie award shows, it’s speeches and, like, sound-mixing webinars. But I thought this would be fun.”

During that same award show, cameras managed to capture what appeared to be a terse moment between Affleck and Lopez, but he also cleared that up at the time, stating it was just a rogue moment where the cameras picked up an out-of-context conversation which, strangely enough, was to do with talk show host Trevor Noah.

“I was like: ‘Oh, God.’ They were framing us in this shot, but I didn’t know they were rolling,” Affleck remembered.

“I leaned into her and I was like: ‘As soon as they start rolling, I’m going to slide away from you and leave you sitting next to Trevor.’

“She goes: ‘You better f***ing not leave.’ That’s a husband-and-wife thing.”

While Affleck did say that his facial expressions aren’t a great barometer for how he is actually feeling, he did say that there have been times at awards ceremonies when he has been ‘p***ed off’ or ‘bored’.

We can all sympathise there, we’ve all had events like that.
