Ben Affleck has been approached for a really good sequel idea for Good Will Hunting.

But don’t get your hopes up, folks, as it’s not a sequel he’s going to pursue anytime soon.

During the Los Angeles premiere for AIR, Matt Damon revealed that someone had pitched a follow-up film idea to the iconic film.

He told Variety: “Someone just tried to pitch Ben Good Will Hunting 2.

“I s**t you not — that happened. He told me today. He was like, ‘You’re not going to believe what I heard.’ This was a flat-out sequel. I don’t get it.”

However, when Affleck was asked about a potential sequel, he was very tight-lipped.

“Matt is always telling stories that he should not be telling,” he said.

When asked for details, he replied: “It’s not a sequel we’re going to pursue.”

It’s been almost 25 years since the 1998 film was released.

The psychological drama, which stars Damon, Affleck and the late Robin Williams, won two Academy Awards, one for Best Supporting Actor and Best Original Screenplay.

And while the flick catapulted the lead actors into Hollywood stardom, Damon revealed last year that writing the script almost ruined his friendship with Affleck.

Despite the film's overnight success, its writing process was tumultuous, according to the Bourne Identity actor.

He told Jimmy Fallon: "I mean, I think Good Will Hunting took us so long. We were, like, unemployed, broke guys.

"It took us forever to write that screenplay."

Damon continued: "I think that kind of put us off writing again, because we never thought we'd have the time."

As a result, it took the pair another 25 years to write another project together.

However, Damon noted that due to their years of experience in the industry, things ran a lot more smoothly the second time around.

"I think we found writing this that we actually kind of picked up structure over the last 25 years of kind of making movies, and so it went a lot faster," the actor said of writing The Last Duel.

Currently, the two star together in the biopic AIR, which is the first project from Affleck and Damon’s new production company Artists Equity.

The film follows the origin of the Air Jordan shoe line as a Nike, Inc. employee seeks to strike a business deal with rookie basketball player Michael Jordan.

And I mean, if it’s got these two powerhouses attached, we expect nothing short of brilliance.
