Black Bird: Trailer, Cast And Release Date

Black Bird is a new crime series set to be released soon on Apple TV +. It follows the true story of imprisoned drug dealer Jimmy Keene who is offered his freedom in exchange for coaxing a confession out of a suspected serial killer.

Though Apple TV+ is yet to properly rival Netflix when it comes to its original content, the streaming platform has enjoyed some success in recent years. In particular, the original sports-based comedy, Ted Lasso, proved to be quite the hit.

This latest series looks very promising, so here is everything we know about Black Bird so far:

Who Is In The Cast Of Black Bird?

The star of this show is the phenomenal Golden Globe winner, Taron Egerton.

The Welsh actor showcased his undeniable talent to the world a few years ago when he played Elton John in Rocketman. Here, he will be playing the lead man, Jimmy Keene.

Egerton’s on-screen father, Big Jim Keene, will be played by the late Ray Liotta. Best known for his role as Henry Hill in Goodfellas, Liotta passed away earlier this year, making this TV show one of his final ever performances.

Other cast members include:

  • Paul Walter Hauser as Larry Hall
  • Greg Kinnear as Brian Miller
  • Sepideh Moafi as Lauren McCauley

Black Bird Trailer:

You can watch the official Black Bird trailer below:

Black Bird is adapted from the autobiographical novel by James Keene, long-windedly titled In with the Devil: A Fallen Hero, a Serial Killer, and a Dangerous Bargain for Redemption.

For those of you wary of TV adaptations, Black Bird was written by Dennis Lehanne. Otherwise known as the American crime author who wrote Shutter Island. We should be in safe hands with him.

When Is Black Bird Coming Out?

Black bird is set to be streamed across Apple TV+ on July 8th. As it is a mini-series, it is scheduled to have just 6 episodes.
