Smile actor Caitlin Stasey claims working in porn is 'like any other film set'

Caitlin Stasey has revealed that there's no difference between filming adult content and regular films

Aussie actor, Caitlin Stasey, has revealed that working within the adult entertainment industry is no different from being part of 'any other film set'.

The Smile star opted for a career change back in 2021 when she announced she'd be having a hiatus from the world of acting and wanted to test her other talents in directing erotic films.

During this stint, the 32-year-old went on to release a fair few adult films under the female-owned pornography company, Afterglow.

Stasey, also a former star of the hit 1985 soap opera, Neighbours, has opened up some more about her brief role within the world of erotica.

The actor spoke on the I’ve Got News For You podcast that was released yesterday (19 March) which was titled: "Caitlin Stasey spills on porn directing career."

The synopsis for the episode read: "The ex-Neighbours star tells us about her new Prime Video show, Class of ‘07, and opens up about her stint as a porn director."

Speaking some more about the work, Stasey admitted: "Honestly, the content is pretty intense."

"I kind of came up with the concept of a perfume commercial that becomes a lesbian threesome."

"But," she continued, "it runs just like any other film set."

Explaining some more about the 'really inclusive' nature of 'ethical pornography' sets, Stasey went on to say: "There are more female directors in pornography than there are in mainstream film and television.

"So, the sets that I was a part or that I was a leader of were always very, like, really warm and kind and patient."

The actor-turned-director said it was 'less about the content' than it was 'being in charge of a group of people' that she found difficult.

"When you're a director - you are judge, jury and executioner," she explained, noting the different duties between actors on set and directors.

Stasey added: "It's tough."

Talking some more about the storylines of porn, Stasey said: "But like, they’re always so sexy, and it always feels like sex is about to happen, when they’re sniffing each other’s necks and like, licking each other’s wrists."

To combat this, the director came up with a brand-new 'concept' to directly respond to the overtly sexual nature of perfume ads.

She told host Andrew Bucklow one of the ideas she had when directing her erotic films: "I kind of came up with the concept of a perfume commercial that becomes a lesbian threesome."

Back in December 2021, Stasey released the film aptly title Eau de P***y as part of a joint project with erotica website, XConfessions created by erotic film director Erika Lust.

Talk about a career change.
