Actor Christopher Walken has revealed that he's never owned a mobile phone or a computer because technology just 'passed him by'.

The 77-year-old was conducting interviews for his new film Wild Mountain Thyme when he made the admission - explaining that someone else had to set up the phone call for him.

Speaking on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Walken told the host: "Somebody had to come and set this up because I don't have a cell phone or a computer.

"I just got to it too late, I think I'm right at a certain age where it just passed me by. And I never got too involved in it because it would be strange to have any 10-year-old who would be much better at it than I am.

"The other thing is, cell phones and that sort of thing, it's a little bit like a watch - if you need one, somebody else has got it."

Confirming that he's never emailed, texted or been on Twitter, Walken continued: "Sometimes on a movie they'll give me a cell phone, but it's more so they can find me. And if I want to use it, somebody has to dial in for me and that kind of thing."

How the other half live, eh?

Speaking from his home in Connecticut, Walken moved on to the new film. He praised the location, saying: "I hadn't in my life been to Ireland and I don't know if you've been there but it really is beautiful. It was everything they say."

The film centres around a headstrong farmer, Rosemary Muldoon (Emily Blunt) who has her heart set on winning her neighbour Anthony Reilly (Jamie Dornan)'s love.

The problem is, Anthony seems to have inherited a family curse, and remains oblivious to his beautiful admirer. Stung by his father (Walken)'s plans to sell the family farm to his American nephew, Anthony is jolted into pursuing his dreams.

When he was asked about his IRL love story (he's been married to his wife for 51 years) and his secret to an enduring marriage, Walken adorably added: "Like a lot of things in my life, I think there's a bit element of luck.

"You just get lucky sometimes... I think it helps if both people are easy to get along with.

"And of course friendship - being friends is very important."

Noted... thanks fella.
