Guy Still Regrets Turning Down Adam Sandler's Offer Of Drink 22 Years Ago

David Seth Cohen has been trying to reschedule drinks ever since

Back in 1998 Adam Sandler was working on Big Daddy when he fancied an after-work beer like many of us often do.

Opting for a tipple in his NYC apartment, the comedy legend clearly didn't want to drink alone and turned to 22-year-old production assistant David Seth Cohen to see whether he wanted to join and the stupid sod said no.

You might be wondering what reasonable excuse would one have to say no to a bev with Sandler? Surely an out of this world emergency would be the only logical answer.

Well actually it could just be something like... work. Yep, Cohen had WORK TO DO.

Great work ethic, we've got to give him that. But still a fool if anyone's asking us.

Rightfully so, David, now 45, has regretted the rejection ever since. He painfully brought it up after a restaurant hostess went viral for not recognising Sandler at an IHOP back in April.

Speaking to the New York Post, he said: "The IHOP thing is nothing. She thinks she has pain? This girl didn't let him sit at a table.

"Imagine passing up a drink with your hero. I've been kicking myself since 1998. I never forgave myself."

GOOD.

David decided to do something good with his regret and made a documentary called Finding Sandler and 15 years after starting the film he's still hoping for a happy ending: to have that drink with his 'hero'.

Here's the trailer for the documentary:

The filmmaker, went on to say: "This was my opportunity to get into the inner circle of a comedy legend. Adam helps out people he likes and always works with his friends.

"My mom said, 'You're an idiot. What were you thinking?' and my 10-year-old cousin said, 'Someone should hit you with a barstool.'"

Perhaps the only silver lining here (believe it or not, there is one) is that Cohen met his wife because of the unfortunate incident.

In 2019, his Hinge profile spoke about blowing Sandler off one time and it spurred his now wife to message saying: "I can't believe you passed up a drink with Adam Sandler!"

She went on to marry him... out of sympathy? Or, slightly more optimistically, maybe he knew he wasn't going to miss any more golden opportunities.
