John Boyega Shares Video Of Moment He Unveiled New House To His Parents

John Boyega has shared an emotional video of the moment he revealed to his parents that he had bought them a new house.

The Star Wars actor, from London, UK, posted the video on Instagram yesterday (Monday) - though the actual footage is from a few years back.

In the video, his parents can be seen sat on a sofa as the 27-year-old tells them: "On behalf of myself I'd like to say thank you for everything that you've done and I decided to do a secret project for a few months, and I'm here to tell you that there was no interview, that was a lie, this is your house that I am presenting to you, this is your new house, it belongs to you."

Boyega's British Nigerian parents - Samson and Abigail - initially seemed a little confused, but after their son continued to reiterate that the 'small token' was theirs, tissues were eventually needed.

Boyega added: "It's your prayers that has got this. Because the skill and the ability that I have received has been from your prayers ... Honestly from the bottom of my heart, thank you so so much for everything you have done."

So there you go parents - if you'd prayed a little harder for me to be talented you'd be getting a new house too.

In a 2018 interview with Jimmy Fallon, Boyega explained that one of his parents was actually already in on the gifting and was in fact just delivering a brilliant acting performance during the unveiling.

He explained: "My mum knew about it, she knew I got the house, I just needed one of them to know so that if one of them had a heart attack, the other can take them to the hospital.

"Mum is the backbone of the family, she's queen. She done the most Oscar winning performance when he found out."

Sounds like acting prowess runs in the family then.

Boyega's generous gifting is all the more commendable given that his parents got him the rather unexciting gift of a paper shredder for his birthday.

Speaking to Fallon, he said: "My parents, the people that brought me into this world, got me a paper shredder.

"I'm like, 'dad, why?' He goes, 'I don't give you what you want, I give you what you need my boy'."

A fair point - though the necessity of a house comes higher up than a paper shredder on my wish list.
