Following the huge success of his pop-punk album Tickets To My Downfall, Machine Gun Kelly - real name Colson Baker - opened up on going from making new music while 'coked out of his mind in a drunken stupor' to becoming a 'better person' thanks to his relationship with actress Megan Fox.

Speaking to NME, MGK explained that the album served as somewhat of a diary of the artist's highs and lows, culminating in his blossoming relationship with film star Fox, who starred in his film clip for 'Bloody Valentine'.

"I did fall in love during the making of this record, and I did become a better person. It's interesting," he told the publication.

"There was probably a crossroads in the middle of making this album where the title would have lived up to the reality. I think the universe caught on to me wanting to make a change. It was like: 'Maybe we won't make this a reality; maybe we'll make this ironic.' Instead of the downfall, go ahead and have the biggest rise of your f**king life."

Fox and MGK went public with their relationship in May this year after meeting on the set of an indie movie in Puerto Rico back in March, after Fox separated from husband of ten years, Brian Austin Green, with whom she shares three sons - Noah, eight, Bodhi, six, and Journey, four.

Machine Gun Kelly also had a message for the critics who took issue with him making the move from hip-hop to pop-punk on his latest record.

"F*ck you to any of the motherfuckers on the internet who tried to make a joke of what is now the Number one f*cking album."

MGK's Tickets To My Downfall has certainly proved the haters wrong, with the album hitting number one on the Billboard charts upon its release on September 25th this year - also marking the first time a rock album has topped the charts since Tool's Fear Inoculum.
