I remember way back when Toby Maguire was cast as Spider-Man and there was this massive hype around it that the movies most-definitely delivered.

In fact I remember coming out of the cinema with my mate having watched Spider-Man 3 and we genuinely thought we'd just been to watch a comedy - banter level 10,000.

Since those halcyon days, Spider-Man has been rebooted with Andrew Garfield but it was a horrendous flop. Like utter drivel to be perfectly honest and I'm sure Garfield himself would admit in his heart of hearts it was probably a mistake to make.

With the Spider-Man franchise on its knees but in need of another reboot because of some strange contract Marvel have going, someone who is probably paid far too much money for not doing a lot decided the way to give the franchise the boost it needs, was to hire unknown teenager Tom Holland to play Peter Parker.

No disrespect to Holland, I'm sure he's a perfectly fine actor, but I can't say the announcement got my toes tingling.

What has got my toes tingling however is the latest selfie he posted from the set which is arguably one of the best bits of movie marketing since Deadpool:

Directed by Jon Watts, the third reboot will take Spidey back to the beginning of high school.

Of course we've already had our first glimpse of Holland's Spider-Man having made a surprise appearance in Captain America: Civil War earlier this year. It was pretty sick.

Thanks to all the praise from critics and fans, Sony and Marvel are said to be considering a cinematic universe around Spider-Man. I don't think anyone would complain about that.
