Holly Willoughby 'Gets Huge Pay Rise' And Now Earns As Much As Phillip Schofield

It's a very big reported pay increase but brings her in line with her co-host.

There was outrage when the BBC released information on how much its highest paid stars earn because the details highlighted a big gender discrepancy, with no women receiving more than £500,000 ($639,916) per year despite several male counterparts earning much more.

However, it appears that issue also affected stars from ITV.

Despite working together for more than a decade and sharing the set of This Morning, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield weren't getting paid the same, according to claims in Thursday's newspapers. It's reported that Phillip was earning a whopping £600,000 ($767,889), while his colleague was on £400,000 ($511,926).

But that has now reportedly been changed after the pair were negotiating their contracts for the latest season of Dancing on Ice. Executives of the reality TV ice-skating show realised they should receive the same pay, which is said to have had a flow-on effect to bosses at This Morning.

A source has told the Mirror: "It seemed ridiculous they were going to get paid the same fee for Dancing on Ice but Holly was lagging behind on This Morning.

"Quite rightly, that has now been rectified and they both earn exactly the same."

While ITV has declined to comment on the £200,000 ($255,963) pay rise, it's sure to be a very welcome move for Holly.

The pair first came together in 2006 to co-present Dancing on Ice and have virtually been inseparable since. They remained on the show together until 2011, when Holly departed to host The Voice.

However, that wasn't the end of the dynamic duo, as they had been hosting This Morning since 2009. Holly replaced Fern Britton, who had presented on the ITV show since 2002.

Fern told the Daily Express about her departure: "This Morning is a huge team of super professional people. I don't miss it because at that stage I'd done 30 years of live television. I love it, it's great, but you have to leave the party before they're fed up with you. Ten years was great."

But the Mirror reports that the 60-year-old veteran TV presenter left because she was being paid differently to co-host Phillip. It's reported Fern received £250,000 less than Schofield.
