You might think someone who has 'the most beautiful face in the world' wouldn't have that much to worry about, but even Yael Shelbia gets trolled.

The model and actor topped TC Candler's annual '100 Most Beautiful Faces of the Year' list in December and has opened up about what sort of online negativity she has faced off the back of it.

The 19-year-old told Fabulous: "I've received a large amount of support and love, also suitor messages I must admit and messages that weren't the nicest.

"They said the normal things that haters say, nothing worth any attention.

"I've got 200,000 new followers on Instagram too, which I wasn't expecting [taking her to 1.2 million].

"I think what makes a person beautiful is to be kind, humble and most of all - positive. When you are good, it is really shown in your eyes and eyes never lie."

Speaking about her competition win, she went on: "I was very surprised, I didn't even know I was participating in this contest.

"It's very exciting and flattering. I don't know why they chose me, I think beauty is so individual and all women are beautiful."

The 100 Most Beautiful Faces of the Year list bills itself as being 'unlike most other annual beauty rankings', as it is 'not a popularity contest and is most definitely not country-specific', with more than 40 countries regularly represented.

The ranking is decided on by a diverse group of around 20 people from across the globe organised by Candler, who sift through suggestions submitted by the public to put together the list.

Along with 'aesthetic perfection', the criteria includes 'grace, elegance, originality, daring, passion, class, poise, joy, promise, hope'.

TC Candler said: "It is not about the sexiest body or the most famous celebrity. Rather, the list attempts to inform and broaden public opinion instead of reflecting it.

"You will find superstars and new stars, global sensations and relative unknowns."

YouTuber PewDiePie (Felix Kjellberg) topped the male equivalent of the list, the 100 Most Handsome Faces of 2020, beating Australian actor Chris Hemsworth, who came third, and South Korean singer V (Kim Tae-hyung), who came second.

Responding to the news in a reaction video, PewDiePie said: "Guys, big news. Number One! TC Candler, the biggest authority of handsome faces put your boy... Yeah! Hall of Fame!"
