When it comes to dating an actor, it can be incredibly awkward when they have to film sex scenes with another person.

In the case of Alison Brie and Dave Franco, however, where both people in the relationship are actors you would imagine this jealousy is slightly easier to deal with.

This is especially true considering the pair, who both star in a brand-new horror Together, have been dating for 14 years and married for eight.

On one film, however, this was taken a bit too far when Franco had to act in a sex scene with another woman whilst Brie was on set.

The pair have worked together on multiple projects since meeting at Mardi Gras in 2011, having acted together on films like The Disaster Artist, The Rental, Horse Girl, and now Together.

In another film they starred in together, The Little Hours, Franco played Massetto, a man pretending to have a hearing and speech impairment who hides out with a convent of sexually frustrated nuns.

During the film, Massetto has sex with four different women, three of whom are nuns, two of whom he has a threesome with.

One of these, Sister Alessandra, is played by Brie, however, the other three women are of course not.

Franco shares sex scenes in the film with Lauren Weedman as well as a threesome scene with Aubrey Plaza and Jemima Kirke’s characters.

In a cast discussion about the film with The Hollywood Reporter, Brie and Franco were asked about working together for the first time and whether they learned anything.

Franco said in response to this: “We learned that Alison should not be on set while I'm having sex scenes with other women.”

She then said: “Yeah I left for those; I did leave for those.”

Speaking about it later in an interview with People Magazine, Brie said: “I just feel like [Franco shooting sex scene with three other women on The Little Hours] was the ripping of the band-aid.”

Brie gave this comment whilst discussing a film she appeared in where, directed by Dave Franco, she shared sex scenes with another man.

Called Somebody That I Used to Know, she said: "I realize that it sounds wild, but we are actors, this is our job. It's actually not that weird.

“With something like this, because it's our baby that we made together, I think our first priority is always just the movie.”

She stated that, whilst neither have any issues with the other appearing in sex scenes, though they generally do give each other a heads up when it’s happening.
