Ben Affleck’s mother got her final wish just two days before death aged 83
Ben Affleck's mum got her final wish to see her grandson graduate two days before her death.
Christopher Affleck, known as Chris, died on June 2 aged 83 after a six-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
She is the mother of Hollywood stars Ben and Casey Affleck, who have not yet commented publicly on her death.
However, an obituary in the Boston Globe has paid tribute to Chris' life as a public school teacher for 35 years, an activist from when she was a student to well past retirement and a loving mother and grandmother.

She also graduated from the famous Harvard University and prized education.
So much so that when given six months to live by doctors after being diagnosed with cancer in December 2025, she hoped she would live long enough to see her grandson graduate.
She did so before dying two days afterwards.
The obituary concludes by writing: "Her greatest wish after her diagnosis, however, was to live to see her grandson graduate high school.
"She did so, attending with her family on May 31, 2026. She died peacefully, in her sleep, two days later."
It's not stated which of her grandsons she saw graduate, though it's likely to be 18-year-old Atticus, son of Casey and Summer Phoenix.
Chris has five grandchildren and the obit says they were her 'animating force of her last two decades.'
Casey has two sons, Atticus and 22-year-old Indiana, while Ben Affleck has three children – Violet, Fin and Sam – with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.
It's added that Chris was "suitably proud of her descendants' achievements, but she was delighted when they questioned, defied, or cleverly engaged authority."
How Chris helped Ben Affleck's acting career
Chris shared Ben and Casey with ex-husband Timothy Affleck and interestingly played a major role in kickstarting their prestigious acting careers.
During her time at Harvard, Chris was roommates with Patty Collins, who went on to be a casting director.
Chris connected her sons with Patty, who helped launch their careers by setting up auditions for local television shows.
Ben told Parade in 2007: "A friend of my mom’s was a casting director so, really as kind of a lark, I had a couple of acting jobs that had just enough exposure to give me the option to continue if I wanted to.
"I followed through with it. Then, basically, came the next stage: should I continue to act or not?"
Ben did continue and has become one of the most recognisable faces in Hollywood, going on to star in Gone Girl, Good Will Hunting and as Batman in multiple films.
Casey is no slouch, either, having put in fantastic performances in Manchester by the Sea, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer.
Chris, though, tended to stay away from the limelight. Instead, she continued her campaign work that started with marching against the Vietnam War and led to her volunteering on Barack Obama's campaign trail in 2008, working as an organiser for Water Justice in Palestine and founding the Sustainable Cape Project in Truro, Massachusetts, where she lived.
Before dying, she completed a final project by collecting oral histories from friend Josh Laub about his time as a headteacher in the South Bronx.
