A pair of actors from the classic comedy Benidorm have got married eight years after the show ended.

The last series of the sitcom centred around a bunch of Brits always going to the same place on holiday and all the things they get up to ended in 2018.

However, an off-screen romance sparked between actors Adam Gillen and Laila Zaidi, otherwise known as Liam and Cyd on Benidorm, with Liam being a regular from the fourth series onwards and Cyd being part of the main cast for the final series.

Their characters didn't get together on screen but in 2018 when the final series of Benidorm was airing their actors did start a relationship, with them announcing back in 2023 that they'd taken things one step further and got engaged.

Now they've provided another update on their relationship as they shared wedding pictures to Instagram as they said they had a 'magical and gorgeous' ceremony at Hackney Town Hall.

"LEGALLY speaking Mr & Mrs", Laila wrote on social media as they shared a series of photos including them being showered with confetti.

The post was followed by a plethora of messages offering the happy couple 'congratulations' on getting married as people told them it was 'lovely news' to hear.

Since being on Benidorm, Adam has appeared in the likes of Boat Story and The Rubbish World of Dave Spud, while Laila appeared on Ackley Bridge and Doctors.

Adam had proposed while they were on holiday, though it was a trip to Croatia rather than Benidorm, and Laila broke the news by saying she'd enjoyed 'a whole week of being a diiiirty flirttttyyy thirty FIANCÉ !!!!!!!'

It's been quite a while since Benidorm was on our screens and the cast have largely gone their separate ways since then.

Child actor Oliver Stokes, who played Michael Garvey on the show, told the Mirror in 2023 he had fun on the show but doesn't remember all of it as he was young when filming.

He remembered dealing with an 'obsessive' elderly fan who wanted to give him sweets, and realised that some jokes went over his head when he was on the show.

Stokes remembered a joke Gillen's character had during a stag do scene which he laughed along with.

He said: "When Adam Gillan, turned up in those Y fronts and said 'I've come as a premature ejaculation'. Unbelievable.

"Even at the age of 10 I found it funny. I don't think I knew what it meant but everyone else was laughing, so I just laughed."
