Britney Spears has responded to shocking claims made by her ex-husband Kevin Federline in his new memoir.

The DJ and dancer, who was married to the 'Oops I Did It Again' hitmaker between 2004 and 2007, is set to release a memoir, in which he makes astonishing claims about his former wife's parenting skills.

In an excerpt from the book, titled You Thought You Knew, shared in The New York Times, Federline suggests his sons were scared of staying with their mother.

Federline and Spears share two children from their three-year marriage, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19.

"They would awaken sometimes at night to find her standing silently in the doorway, watching them sleep — ‘Oh, you’re awake?’ — with a knife in her hand,” he writes. “Then she’d turn around and pad off without explanation."

Now, Spears appears to have made her thoughts regarding the situation very clear, sharing a lengthy text post online which calls out an unnamed man.

"To be loved unconditionally and with a naive heart like mine, always being threatened or made to believe I’m the bad one as they profit off my pain," she wrote on Instagram.

"Oh dear Jesus show me there is a God and I can too be loved unconditionally and not have to be so perfect cause it’s really interesting. I 100 percent beg to differ the way he is literally attacking me in his interviews."

She continued: "If truth be told the man in the interview went STRAIGHT TO the SOURCE and said it CLEAR AS DAY… no money from Britney for 5 years you trying to get paid that’s what general America is saying weird you both have moved on… your kids are adults it’s a different world now … why is HE SO ANGRY."

She then goes on to describe Federline as 'convincing' and sharing her belief that his memoir will sell 'loads more' than her 2023 book The Woman in Me.

Spears has not explicitly named Federline in the post, however, the timing of the statement and references to money and grown up children suggests it is most likely aimed at him.

Elsewhere in Federline's book, he also claims his former spouse had partied with Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton while her sons cried in another room

Meanwhile, representatives for Spears have also shared a statement on behalf of the singer regarding Federline's claims. "With news from Kevin’s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin," read the statement, which had been shared with The Independent.

"All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James and their wellbeing during this sensationalism. She detailed her journey in her memoir."

This isn't the first time in which the singer has spoken out against her ex-husband's book, previously saying the 'constant gaslighting from ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting'.

"I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys," she added.
