People left ‘in shock’ at what Calvin Harris posted while announcing birth of son

The celebrity wasn't shy about sharing the photos with his 11.4 million followers

Calvin Harris has left his fans in shock after sharing some interesting images alongside an announcement that he and his wife have welcomed a son.

The 'Acceptable in the 80s' performer posted on Instagram to let his followers know that his son Micah had been born on 20 July.

Calvin, whose name is actually his stage name, married British TV presenter Vick Hope in 2023, whom he first met back in 2007 when he asked her out on a date and she turned him down - twice.

However, the couple got together in 2022 before getting engaged the same year, with their newborn son being the couple’s first child.

He wrote on his social media: "20th of July our boy arrived. Micah is here! My wife is a superhero, and I am in complete awe of her primal wisdom! Just so grateful. We love you so much Micah."

If the 'primal wisdom' comment wasn't strange enough already, even experienced parents and staunch Call the Midwife fans have been left shocked after they were met with a graphic sight three photos into his post.

After a picture of the DJ holding his newborn son, to Vick in the birthing pool, Harris shared an image of the placenta - umbilical cord and all.

The placenta is a temporary organ that develops in the uterus during pregnancy, connecting the developing foetus to the uterine wall, and it is often delivered after the baby during the birth.

Once the placenta is checked by the doctor to see if it's complete, then the placenta, along with the umbilical cord, is disposed as it isn't needed for anything.

However, there are some parents who opt to keep it instead.

Some decide to plant it with a tree, others donate it to science and some even eat it, with the belief that it can reduce postpartum depression and reduce bleeding after the birth, despite there being limited scientific evidence to back this up.

However, going off Calvin's photos, it seems as if he and his wife decided to chop the placenta up and go through a process known as placenta encapsulation, where it is re-ingested in a more handy pill form, rather than eaten raw in the same manner as Daenerys did with the horse heart in that one weird Game of Thrones scene.

However, the images did catch a lot of people off-guard, as a few were left baffled as to why he'd decided to share the intimate photos with his 11.4 million followers.

One wrote: "Congratulations. Could have used a trigger warning for those last three photos though."

Another commented: "Swiping. 'Oh wow. That's amazing. Congratula... What the f***!"

A third said that the 'pics were great', however, they added that it wasn't 'necessary' for them to see the placenta.

Meanwhile, a fourth suggested it was an easy way to figure out in the comments who had kids, as they wrote: "Congrats to the both of you.

"You'll quickly find out who on here is a parent or not by their reaction to the last three pictures."
