People are losing their minds after hearing what they believe to be Chris Evans' real accent, which 'slipped out' during an interview.

The Captain America actor was out promoting Lightyear, which follows Toy Story's Buzz Lightyear (voiced by Evans) who embarks on an intergalactic adventure on his return home, alongside his recruits Izzy (Keke Palmer), Mo (Taika Waititi), Darby (Dale Soules), and robot companion, Sox (Peter Sohn).

The space crew work together in their ambitious attempt to take down the evil Emperor Zurg (James Brolin) and his robot army.

During a 2022 interview with Access Hollywood, Evans - originally from Boston - said it was 'daunting' to take on the iconic Buzz lightyear voice.

"It is intimidating, it is a little daunting. You want to make sure you pay homage to Tim [Allen] because he did such a good job, but you want to find a way to give to give it your own interpretation, but you know I put my trust in Pixar," he said.

The actor was also asked by the reporter about his facial hair: “What do you prefer - moustache or no moustache? Be honest.”

Watch below to hear his accent slip:

Viewers reckon his strong Boston accent came out in conversation, as one shocked person commented: “Chris Evans asking ‘moustache or no moustache’ in his Boston accent should be illegal and grounds for arrest.”

Another wrote: “Chris Evans putting that Boston accent into overdrive now that he's done with Marvel.”

Someone else joked: “Chris Evans is a much better actor than I previously thought if he's been hiding this thick a** Boston accent the whole time.”

While a fourth said: “I can’t stop thinking about Chris Evans’ Boston accent and it’s sending me into a spiral.”

Well, it seems Evans ditched his accent to play the role of Buzz Lightyear telling Disney in 2021: "The phrase ‘a dream come true’ gets thrown around a lot, but I’ve never meant it more in my life.

"Anyone who knows me knows that my love for animated films runs deep. I can’t believe that I get to be a part of the Pixar family and work with these truly brilliant artists who tell stories unlike anyone else.

"Watching them work is nothing short of magic. I pinch myself every day.”

Writing on Instagram, Evans added: "Trust me when I say that they REALLY know what they’re doing over there.

"This one is gonna be special, and it doesn’t step on a single thing.

"I can’t even put my excitement into words. I smile every time I think about it."

Lightyear got a 74 percent Tomatometer score and a 84 percent Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes.
