Dakota Johnson has brutal response when asked why she’s always ‘naked’ on red carpets

She's made it pretty clear what she thinks

Dakota Johnson had a brutal response when she was asked about always 'being naked' on red carpets.

The 36-year-old actor, who is starring in the upcoming 2026 film Verity, was interviewed by Vogue Germany recently about the movie and some of her eye-catching fashion choices when out premiering new projects.

The Madame Web protagonist certainly has a reputation for not mincing her words in interviews, previously admitting that she didn't watch the failed Marvel project.

Johnson also described her brief time on The Office as the worst time of her life, which suggests that her life has probably been fairly smooth, while she also went viral for a particularly awkward interview with Ellen DeGeneres, which went down in history as 'birthday gate'.

And she's only added to that reputation with her latest answer, when she was questioned by her interviewer about whether a naked dress might be ‘too sexy'.

Now, the people who are complaining about Dakota's dresses being too revealing are probably the same people who moan about their steaks being too juicy or their lobsters being too buttery, but she's made it clear that she isn't interested in hearing their thoughts.

She said: “I really don't care. I've been able to wear some of the most beautiful dresses, and I feel beautiful in them, so I wear them."

The 50 Shades of Grey actress added: “Sometimes those dresses look good on me. But there are also some we've tried on that didn't look good at all. It depends on the shape, the finish, the colour, and everything else. So if I find a beautiful dress that I feel comfortable in, of course I want to wear it! And it's fun to wear a sexy dress."

Johnson has worn Gucci gowns and fitted lace dresses, and she's usually chosen not to wear much underneath. She suggested that her mother Melanie Griffith helped her to foster a strong body image from a young age.

"My mum was just very open about the topic of bodies", she said.

“She taught us how to take care of our bodies and love them, and that our bodies are beautiful. And I think that's something really important for a young girl because we're constantly told that we're not good enough.

“And if you're not told from a young age by the woman you look up to the most that you're perfect and smart and special and strong and brave, it can really break you. It's hard to re-teach yourself that love later on. That was a huge gift she gave me."

And to be fair to the Splitsville star, her dresses are far more appropriate than the one Kanye West's ex-wife Bianca Censori was sporting earlier this year.
