Gregg Wallace fired from MasterChef but 'cleared of most serious and sensational' accusations

Gregg Wallace has released a blistering statement after reports surfaced he's been fired from MasterChef following a nine-month investigation.

This came after he was accused of having made inappropriate sexual comments on the set of the show to 13 different women, a claim he denied.

Wallace faced controversy after rubbishing the claims as having come from ‘middle class women of a certain age’ who appeared on Celebrity MasterChef.

Both the BBC and the show’s production company, Banijay UK, put out statements saying that they would be conducting investigations into the allegations.

Long-time co-host John Torode also spoke out against Wallace, saying he found the reports of his alleged behaviour ‘truly upsetting’.

Now, Wallace has taken to Instagram to claim that the investigation has found that he was cleared of the ‘most serious and sensational’ accusations. Nevertheless, the Daily Mail reports he has been fired from the show.

Posting a statement on his social media, the celebrity chef said that he was speaking out ahead of the publication of the ‘Silkins report’, a report of the nine month investigation into his conduct.

Within this he claimed to have been cleared of the most serious offences, saying that they were ‘found to be baseless after a full and forensic six-month investigation’.

Wallace sensationally claimed that BBC News is set to ‘platform legally unsafe accusations’ which includes claims he states the report has not found ‘not credible’.

His statement goes on to bash BBC News, accusing them of no longer providing ‘balanced and impartial public service journalism’.

The chef does go on to admit that the report finds him guilty of using ‘inappropriate language’ between 2005 and 2018.

He claimed he recognised that ‘some of [his] humour and language, at times, was inappropriate’.

While unclear which of the exact claims Wallace is saying he was cleared of in the statement, he stood accused of groping women, ‘thrusting his groin’ at a contestant, and using sexually explicit language.

He was also shockingly accused of walking onto set wearing nothing but a sock covering his genitals.

Wallace goes on to say that he has been diagnosed as autistic, pointing to his ‘neurodiversity’ and claiming that it was not properly investigated to ‘protect’ him from an environment he says he now realises was ‘dangerous’ to him.

The BBC will reportedly publish a short summary of the report later this week and the chef claims that a ‘full report will never be seen’.

Wallace ends his statement by saying: “I will not go quietly. I will be cancelled for convenience.

“I was tried by the media and hung out to dry well before the facts were established.

“The full story of this incredible misjustice must be told and it is very much a matter for public interest.”

A BBC spokesperson told LADbible: "Banijay UK instructed the law firm Lewis Silkin to run an investigation into allegations against Gregg Wallace. We are not going to comment until the investigation is complete and the findings are published."

LADbible has contacted Banijay UK and a representative for Greg Wallace for a comment.
