Perhaps he wished he was at Notting Hill instead

Wimbledon is continuing to attract big name celebrities as the iconic tennis tournament reaches its final stages, but for Hugh Grant, the excitement seemingly wasn't there during yesterday's quarter-final between Novak Djokovic and Flavio Cobolli.

The likes of Tom Holland, David Beckham and Olivia Rodrigo have all been spotted in the SW19 crowd in the last few weeks taking in some thrilling tennis, although they probably won't be as bothered about the price of a pint like the rest of us.

We've seen plenty of funny moments away from the actual sporting action, whether it was the umpire being forced to address the crowd after someone popped opened a bottle of champagne before a serve, while another player took a no-nonsense approach when lifting her skirt to make a point to a questioning umpire.

While some games are completely one-sided, tennis fans will agree that tie-breaks are some of the most exciting situations but it seems like Hugh Grant missed much of the first set tie-break after being spotted seemingly taking a little kip by BBC Sport.

Although the excitement may simply have been too much for the Four Weddings and a Funeral star, a lot of tennis fans weren't happy with Hugh, especially as tickets for the later stages are often very hard to get hold of.

One user wrote on Twitter: "Cobolli I think Hugh Grant owes you a massive apology for being asleep in your tie breaker situation, totally disrespectful."

Another said: "Hugh Grant is sleeping through the first set tie break! T**ts like him and some other 'celebs' who get privileged tickets for #Wimbledon2025 don't deserve them!!!"

A third commented: "A little too much complimentary alcohol and sun for Hugh Grant on centre court and in the Royal Box at Wimbledon today. He won't get an invite again if he can't be bothered to stay awake and watch!! #wimbledon."

However, not everyone was upset with the actor, as it seems his status as a British icon has managed to save his bacon with a few fans.

One commented: "Hugh Grant asleep in the royal box is the best thing I've seen at #WIMBLEDON this year!! I love this man!!"

A second defended the 64-year-old, saying: "Hugh Grant flat out kipping at Wimbledon is the best thing I’ve seen today."

Funnily enough, Hugh's little nap seemingly came a few moments after a chat with Queen Camilla, when he hopefully didn't miss the opportunity to tell her the correct score of 30 - Love, Actually.

Djokovic went on to win the match by three sets to one, and will take on world number one Jannik Sinner in tomorrow's semi-final.

LADbible has contacted the reps of Hugh Grant for comment.
