On 11 February, James Van Der Beek died following a years-long battle with colorectal cancer.

The Dawson’s Creek star ‘passed peacefully’ as his wife, Kimberly, said he ‘met his final days with courage, faith, and grace’.

Tributes poured in from friends, family and across Hollywood for the 48-year-old as a GoFundMe was set up.

Among those remembering the star was Van Der Beek’s ex-wife, Heather McComb, who shared a throwback photo from early in their relationship.

“I sit here in immense gratitude for the special connection, friendship and love that James and I shared that has endured through decades,” she wrote.

And months after mourning his loss, McComb has now shared the happy news that she married actor Scott Michael Campbell over the weekend in Missoula, Montana.

McComb and Van Der Beek married back in 2003 before a divorce in 2010.

The pair were described as having remained ‘good friends’ when their split was confirmed in 2009.

Reacting to his death in February, the Party of Five actor said she was ‘heartbroken’ and ‘especially heartbroken’ for ‘Kimberly, his beautiful children and his amazing family’.

“James was a beautiful soul filled with so much light, love, talent, humour, depth, sensitivity, knowledge and a deep love of God that shined through him,” McComb wrote. “He shined so bright yet was so humble and human.”

She shared a series of photos yesterday (31 May), announcing her marriage to Campbell over the weekend.

“Our hearts are full and humbled by all of the love that we are surrounded by. God is good,” she wrote on Instagram. “Thank you to all of our family and friends who travelled from all over the country to be with us.”

McComb went on to thank all of those who helped put the wedding together as Campbell said he was ‘beyond blessed’ to marry the ‘beautiful soul’.

Following his split from McComb, Van Der Beek married Kimberly in 2010. They had six children together: Olivia, 15, Joshua, 14, Annabel, 12, Emilia, 10, Gwendolyn, seven and Jeremiah, four.

McComb had written in February: “I know that James loved being a father so much and oh how he loved Kimberly with his everything. True soulmates. How she showed up for him with such grace is so beautiful and something I will forever admire. James was a blessing to all that knew him and because of his boldness to share his journey with the world so bravely is now a blessing to all.”
