Jennifer Lopez slammed for 'revealing' outfit during performance at billionaire’s $6.7m wedding

Jennifer Lopez has caught some flak for her outfit after she was booked to perform at a lavish wedding in India.

You probably don't know them, but Netra Mantena and Vamsi Gadiraju tied the knot earlier this week near the Taj Lake Palace, which featured in the James Bond movie Octopussy.

Design and decor for the wedding was done by Altair by Janki Desai, who were part of the estimated $6.7 million (£5 million) spent to put the spectacular event together, a sum which might help explain why J-Lo was among the attendees.

Also in attendance were a number of Bollywood stars and Donald Trump Jr., the son of the current US president.

Obviously you don't have Jennifer Lopez show up at your wedding if you're not planning on having her perform, but the outfit she donned while on stage ended up receiving mixed reviews.

It's a general rule of weddings that whatever you wear you don't upstage the bride on her big day, but J-Lo got some criticism from people when she stepped out on stage wearing a shiny leotard and flesh-coloured stockings.

The singer wore a variety of outfits including a couple of sparkly leotards and a black bodysuit and opinions were divided on whether or not she should have worn something else.

Some people commented on videos of the wedding performance that they didn't like J-Lo's outfit, wondering 'what the hell is she wearing' and asking her 'where the hell is ur dress'.

Others accused her of a 'massive cultural sensitivity fail' and even claimed it was a 'vulgar dress', though anyone who has seen Jennifer Lopez perform in the past cannot claim not to know what sort of things she's known for wearing on stage.

This couple booked Jennifer Lopez for their wedding and by Jove that's what they got. Even if some people on social media were complaining about the singer's outfits, the wedding guests were dancing along to the music so they seemed to be enjoying things well enough.

Lopez was also defended by plenty of others who thought she looked 'absolutely stunning' and put on an 'incredible' performance, so you can't please everyone but there were fans of hers too.

Given her career success there were naturally others praising her 'class, style, elegance and bold costumes'.

J-Lo has had some wardrobe malfunctions on the stage before, earlier this year she was performing in Warsaw, Poland, when her skirt fell off and she told the crowd 'I'm here in my underwear'.

After a few unsuccessful attempts to reattach the skirt the 56-year-old instead decided to chuck it into the audience, and her fans seemed to think she handled things pretty well.
