Liam Payne spoke out on an interview he once gave which led his One Direction bandmate Louis Tomlinson to say he'd 'forever despise' the interviewer.
Back in 2022, Payne appeared on the Impaulsive podcast with Logan Paul and discussed his time with One Direction.
During the episode, he spoke about the moment he almost 'came to blows' with another bandmate, called Zayn Malik a 'd**k' and talked about the 'many reasons I dislike Zayn'.
The interview gained a significant amount of backlash as people didn't like what Payne had said about the rest of One Direction and he later backtracked on a lot of his remarks.

He also said that in retrospect the interview is 'hard to watch back' and admitted the reality is he 'loves his boys'.
The year after his appearance on Impaulsive, Payne released a YouTube video where he addressed the controversy around the podcast.
He said: "One of the biggest remarks I made was about the One Direction thing… and a lot of self-protection, I suppose, in that moment, more than anything.
"The rest of the boys really stuck by me when I needed them most, they kinda came to the rescue. Even Zayn, as well, which is why I did send him a little thank you online. It came across really big-headed, didn’t it?

"A lot of what I said came from the wrong place. I was so angry at what was going on around me and instead of taking a look inwards I decided to look outwards at everybody else and I just think yeah I took it out on everybody else, which is just wrong, really."
Payne went on to say that the interview had been part of his decision to begin a sobriety treatment program and 'had to go away to kinda get better'.
The singer described going on Impaulsive and the reaction to his appearance on the podcast as 'life changing', having called it 'a scramble to stay relevant'.
Payne tragically died last year after a fall from a hotel balcony in Argentina, prompting tributes from his former bandmates, his fans and many others who knew him.

Speaking on Saturday (18 October) to The Independent, Louis Tomlinson hit out at Paul and said he would 'forever despise' the podcaster.
"I f**king forever despise [Logan Paul], horrible, horrible little f**ker," the One Direction star said.
"I think that's also the problem with some of this new 'media'. I would like to think most journalists… some journalists have a duty of care."
Elsewhere in the interview, he said he had 'so many' fond memories of Payne and said his qualities were a 'testament to the truth of who he was as a person'.
