Lil TJay failed to show up for his performance at Leeds Festival 2023 and fans are furious.

The American rapper, 22, was due to perform on the Main Stage West on Friday (25 August) between 4.35pm – 5.10pm, however the festival’s organisers released a statement confirming that the ‘Sex Sounds’ musician was nowhere to be found.

“Unfortunately, Lil TJay hasn’t arrived on site and we haven’t been able to contact him. We hope he will arrive soon,” the statement from organisers said. It was displayed on the screens by the stage as fans were waiting for the rapper’s set.

People rushed to social media to complain and to jokingly contact Yorkshire police to report a missing person.

“Shambles lads,” one festival-goer tweeted alongside a picture of the statement.

While another fan wrote: “@liltjay where you at bro… we are all waiting for you at Leeds fest man… sad times."

Another furious fan posted: “@liltjay disgusting u didn’t turn up to Leeds! Saw a lot of ur fans who were buzzing to see u. If that’s how u treat ur fans f**k u bro disgusting.”

“The way lil tjay just didn’t show up for his set at leeds fest n showed no communication to the organisers… that’s like rlly snide icl,” one fan declared.

Someone else penned: “@yorkshirepolice I’d like to report a missing person. It seems @liltjay has gone missing at Leeds ffs.”

Lil TJay is also due to perform at Reading Festival on Sunday (27 August). Here’s hoping the fans there have much better luck.

Lil TJay appeared to address the situation in an Instagram story yesterday, which seemed to show the rapper in Manchester.

He said: "For everybody who missed the set, I'm sorry man. I missed the set, I'm sorry. I'm going to be there at 12.30pm, make sure y'all there. I'm the star of the show I've got to take my hat off. Show me some love tomorrow."

He later corrected the time to 12pm, though it's not clear if the rapper was speaking about a rescheduled Leeds festival set.

LADbible has contacted Leeds Festival and representatives for Lil TJay for comment.

Lil TJay’s absence comes after another hip hop star, rapper Trippie Redd, dropped out of his performances at Reading & Leeds Festivals due to illness.

Lil TJay has yet to address the situation.

A statement was shared on the festivals’ social media page on Friday.

“I’m so sorry to announce that I can’t perform this weekend,” he told fans,” the statement reads.

“I was really looking forward to coming to Reading & Leeds Festivals but due to illness I have to cancel my visit to the UK. I hope to see you soon!”

Headliners at this year’s festival includes Billie Eilish, Rina Sawayama, Imagine Dragons, Becky Hill, Wet Leg, Sam Fender, Loyle Carner, Central Cee and The Killers and many more.
